I want to Know!

Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is the one day in the year that has fascinated  thousands throughout the known world.

There are so many cultures that celebrate the holiday, and in their own way, that you could write a book on just that much alone.

There also are an awful lot of questions,  that remain unanswered about Carnival as well. Were the Roman Lupercalia participants aware of any religious implications with their festival.

Did the French,  ever keep records on the exact first date of the known festival in it's pre-carnival form? What was the exact number of Creoles in the city during the Golden Age of Carnival? Who designed the first ever costume for a carnival ride? Or Lastly..... What date was the first Ball held........ in the Washington, D.C. carnival?

So many questions, So little time! But it's what we enjoy doing. Going through the stacks of archived materials to answer those questions and more, and maybe find new questions. Carnival Research is also talking to the most interesting people, viewing the oddest pictures, or deciphering the forgotten object, found in someone's attic, basement, closet or even under great great grandma's trunk in her old room. It's like digging for treasure, and the trail just keeps you intrigued that much more.

If you have a question, send it in. We'll look it up for you and report back when we have an answer. Please remember this one thing, however. Great or or just Good Research, isn't done on a timetable. To adequately, completely and accurately answer any question, takes time. Often two to sometime six(6) weeks per question. Then some may never be answered.  Unless we've already done the research, don't expect a quick answer.

Soon we'll start to take research request, we hope you give us some great projects to study. We're looking forward to them in the future.
