Documentary focuses on Mardi Gras Indian Culture in 'Tootie's last suit'

August 15, 2007 -----  The feature-length documentary, Tootie's Last Suit, comes to New Orleans in time to commemorate the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The film, to be shown Sunday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Treme Community Center, documents the final Mardi Gras and subsequent days of Tootie Montana, the Chief of Chiefs, the man who, over five decades, moved Mardi Gras Indian focus from violence to "pretty." The showing is free.     More....

2008 Ball Schedule looking much better in  New Orleans, LA. ......Most clubs because of their venues condition will not hold galas this season. The party schedule will firm up closer to Mardi Gras because  the parties this season if they occur will be mostly last minute, impromptu, but really fun to attend. Clubs are free to list with us as well this coming season.

Disaster Recovery 

 

Pictured: The Mardi Gras Fountain on the Lake front sustained light to moderate damage.  It was just dedicated last Summer and was in new condition.

Hotels, retailers, entrepreneurs, schools and other businesses that are the keepers of Carnival are still trying to recover . We give you a progress report on the business of Mardi Gras in detail very soon.

The Biloxi, MS organization, "Second Liners", has the unique distinction of being one of the regions, double nickel clubs. An organization that is a civic organization as well as a Krewe. There are only 9 such clubs in the entire gulf coast.
