Crowns 2005 King & Queen
The Revolution Social & Pleasure Club held it’s annual
Coronation of it's Royalty Tuesday, March 15, 2005 in New Orleans
East. The S & P club known as the Revolution, had started
preparations for quite some time to hold this coronation of it 2005-
2006 royalty for the organization’s coming parade on April 3rd,
2005 at 1 p.m.
The Revolution are known for the rights and rituals that they
hold each season. The club is one of just 8 of the 78 clubs that
hold a coronation and pattern themselves after the after the
original SA&PC's. This over the years has allowed the Revolution
to really stand out as a Main Line Organization.
King Wardell Lewis, and his Queen, LaShonda Francis,
ascended to the throne at 12 midnight at the behest of the club and
its members. The courtship began, as the King lead, no less than
three Brass bands into the hall and took to dancing the second line.
The actual coronation of his majesty and her highness were in fine
fashion, and the club will showcase the new royal couple at the
start of the route, during the day of the parade. There were be 4
dukes installed as well as were 4 maids. The ceremony was held
at June Li's, located at 10901 Chef Menteur Highway, in New
Orleans LA. The officers of the club, of course, carried out the
annual ritual, with this year's president and founder, Joseph
Black, and the
V.P., Ms
Cheris Valdery,
presiding over the ceremony. Attire was after Five and the affair
was by invitation only.
The party which followed immediately introduced the King and
Queens of the years past and presented awards to those who had
contributed the most to this years coming parade.
