Old & Nu Style Fellas Holds Rally with Celeb's Galore

New Orleans, LA. ...........7th Ward, Saturday, January 13,2007        The stage was set this night, for the club to host a production that was star studded. As chance would have it,  the whole thing had to be set back a few hours, to await the results of the Saints playoff game. The New Orleans Saints won! So! With that out of the way, the night as late was, now belonged to the Old & NU Style Fellas Social & Pleasure club along with the celeb's to entertain.

The club did exactly what they set out to do, entertain! The talent show that was produced by the club, was another one of the  innovative ways this club to raise the funds necessary to parade, and purchase those fine outfits they are noted for. Marian & myself were constantly  laughing but thoroughly enjoying the skits, the food, the bar and the impressionists of the club members as they put on one of the best cabarets',  we have seen in quite a few years.

This doesn't happen enough, for us, and the way the production was carried out left us wanting more. Such impressions of the great artist of the "old school" music genre were done very well that the movements and lip sync told us that a lot of rehearsal time went into the production.

Most of the crowd apparently felt the same way as the impressionist were repeatedly applauded for the job they did. In some cases the experience left us wanting to give a standing ovation to the costumes and the act.

The M.C. for the evening, kept the production moving and when it may have stalled, he kept everyone very entertained and laughing at the antics he would incite.

One of the night's highlights was the impression of the Jackson 5. Here portrayed by (Michael -Askia Bennett), Tyrone Miller, Donald Foy, Dalton Foy and Tory Dickson

Unfortunately, we would normally have some good pictures for you of this event, but because of the low light environment in the club, the photos and the video taken were of no real use to us. We apologize for the inconvenience to the club.

Let me make this point clear however, the production worked very well, without a spotlight they would normally have used, and without a program. Two over looked features that would have been useful to us, that were not available that night!

However inconvenient, their non-use may prove to be now, during the show, I can tell you first hand that it did not for one moment take away from the enjoyment of the production.  Impressions of Al Green, Betty Wright, and especially the Jackson 5 were dead on and deserve another applause even from my seat here in the studio.

The talent show was a sure fire success! Well done Old & NU Style Fella's,  Well done in deed !
