We want to congratulate and welcome, the Newest tribe on the books, the "The 9th Ward Navajo", for obtaining 501(C3) status! They are now an official non-profit and eligible for grants and other things that this status can bring. Way to go for this newest chief!

The Indian nation and the second line culture are just now learning what the Krewes have known for the last 150 years. They are starting to incorporate their respective clubs and develop logos at an accelerated rate. Leveling the playing field more as they too discover the ways too explore the non-profit tax status and the relief it brings to the treasury of the small companies, they now own. 

The history of the Mardi Gras Indians here in New Orleans is the stuff of legends. Honoring the native Indians which aided the escape of slaves, the Indians did so at the risk of life and limb.
