These guidelines are put into place to enable the
agents, as well as the company, to work together from one rule
book, in order to gather the industry's news in an ethical, fair, and
unbiased manner. Each agent must be prepared to sign an agreement
showing that he or she shares these values and will adhere to the base
principles laid down.
1. Each agent agrees that any trusts, bonds, business
relationships and friendships that they had going into this endeavor
they will protect. They agree that they will not break their word, any
oaths taken or make false promises in order to gain / share
information.
2. The company and each agent agrees that any
information given on a time delay basis will be handled on that basis.
( i.e.) " You can't give this out, until next Tuesday, but
........." Next Tuesday, means, next Tuesday!
3. Information shared by any agent must aid the
club or group in some shape form or fashion. This doesn't mean that
bad news will not be accepted, however, in the end, it must help the
club, even if by disseminating the info, it just keeps the clubs name
in the news.
4. No news, none, that will harm the long term viability of
any club,
will be disseminated. Unless such news has been cleared by
the organization, or will inflict no further harm beyond what had been
done. As always we will call to verify such information, and to get
the other side of the story.
5. Each agent agrees to make any photos, videos, etc.,
or physical accessories available to the company to examine for the
purposes of verifying, or illustrating a newsworthy story.
6. Each agent agrees that they do not work for the
company, rather they are minor partners in a business arrangement.
Each agrees to hold the other harmless, in this arrangement, and
always act in good faith.
7. In reporting on any conflict or disagreement, each
agent who undertakes such a story, shall deem any story incomplete
until all sides of the issue have been gathered. The agent can not be
a party to such disagreements, if reported.
8. All stories shall be written, told and
submitted by the agent. The agent must be sure the story is
communicated in a fair,
impartial, and unbiased manner. All agents shall refrain from
injecting their personal belief into any issue. Those who can not keep their
personal beliefs out of an issue, should not pass information to us
concerning that matter.
9. Any and all agents shall have the complete freedom
to write, or gather information on any story, or worthy subject, for
the magazine that they wish. Any writing shall constitute an agreement
between "Mardi Gras Digest" and "the agent",
as the story's contributor, of the piece and will receive the,
"by" line unless the agent requests no byline be present, or
it is clearly not in the best interest of "Digest" or "the
agent", to be named.
10. All information shall be verified, before
reporting that information to us. You may turn stories or ideas over
to us for verification.
11. No agent shall pay for any information. Nor shall
any agent take cash to do stories, or pass information to
us. Any agent who willfully breaks this provision of the guidelines
will be, "booted" from the program.
12. All agents shall become distributors of Mardi Gras
Digest Magazine. He/She shall sell the magazine out of their business
to the public at large. They shall grant the magazine space at their
point of sell and use their resources and influence to sell the
magazine.
