Position: Sales Account Rep (outside)    Position Responsibilities : 

Outside sales agents calls on clients and prospects at their place of business. They may have an appointment, or if you wish you may practice “cold calling,” or arriving without an appointment. Outside sales Reps also handle sales to customers who walk in or telephone our firm to inquire about advertising, upon referral by an inside sales rep. Outside Reps will make up to 25 telephone sales calls per week—calling prospects, attempting to sell advertising space or time, in the publication, "Mardi Gras Digest Magazine", and/or our website presence, Mardi Gras Digest.Com or our Internet Radio station, "Mardi Gras Radio.Com", and arranging follow-up appointments between interested prospects. All calls must be logged in order to issue proper credit when such calls turn into sales.  

Within the Mardi Gras community and its many related service industry, our representatives will sell advertising space for our print offering and our Internet publication known as Mardi Gras Digest. com. The Rep will also sale ad time, on our internet streaming service, Mardi Gras Radio and upcoming service, Mardi Gras television. Reps may be asked to join in the sale of soon be syndicated programs to local TV stations, public access TV on cable systems, and on across the gulf coast states. 

Any successful candidate should know how to work with the executives at advertising agencies, called media buyers, who purchase advertising space for their clients. These Media firms may represent any number of publications,  radio or television stations, buying our ad space to advertising their clients who want to initiate a national advertising campaign or place advertisements outside their local market. Our successful candidate should know how to cultivate new advertisers, while maintaining contacts with existing advertisers through the advertising agencies. The successful candidate should know how to present a "professional presence" to our media clients and maintain a good relationship with each of them. 

Responsible for sales in a local assigned territory, obtaining new accounts.  Will spend much of time traveling to and visiting with prospective advertisers and current clients. During a sales call, they should discuss the client’s advertising needs and suggest how best their products and services can meet those needs. A critical part of building a relationship with a client is to find out as much as possible about the client and its products. Sales agents inquire about the client’s current customers, prospective customers, and the geographic area of the target market.

Education & Training:      minimum of High school grad + two yrs of college or trade school preferred,

Requirements:   2-3 yrs experience in ad sales.  Knowledge of local businesses, customer service and how to lure in ad accounts, crucial. Must be a self starter. Able to hit the ground walking. Maintain cool under a pressure filled, deadline driven environment. Must be able to produce rapid results in a competitive environment.  - Able to pass background check, drug screen. Multiple arrests for Felony Theft, or D.W.I., need not apply. Must produce verifiable prior experience. Formal training in sales may be substituted for up to 2 yrs experience. NOTICE: Random Drug screens are given at this company!

Position Compensation : $125/wk + 10% commission initial sale + 3% override on your clients that renew
