   Computers are getting faster and faster with each passing season. Are you keeping up with those speeds? Sure you are! Computers now run well in excess of 2.5 ghz cpu speed. This simply means that those of you that still have 600 Mhz and below computers should very seriously think about an upgrade.

Also part of that speed revolution in computers is modem technology. Speeds in excess of 56k bps are now available from your phone company or even your cable company. While computers still come with a 56k modem must also now come with 10/100 Mbps network cards that enable you to connect to the internet at higher speeds. To really enjoy the net as it was intended, You must have high speed access! This site is optimized for modem speeds well in excess of 56k. At times it may be slow to load if your modem is 56K. But never more than 1 minute 10 sec.

Soon we will begin proceed to produce web movies that get you even closer to the celebrations, video reports, and features, and of course ads. In order to view these coming items, you will need high speed. We will support 56k until Mardi Gras 2004 at which time we will drop all support of non high speed users.

This doesn't mean you will not be able to log on and see us, but the content will load extremely slow as we drop the ....56k should load in 60 sec page rule .....  and go to a more intensive graphic rich media. This means load times for 56k modems will be in excess of 2 to 3 mins at best, and up to 6 to 8 mins, at worse case. In order to save space on our servers we will not run a mirror site for 56k users nor will we set up access speeds on our video at less than 100 kbps.   

Now, we here at Digest will continue to support 56kbps, until then, but serve notice that this change is coming, and we strongly urge those who are at the lower speeds to upgrade as fast as you possibly can. This will allow as many as possible to make the jump to higher speeds before we cut support.

The change will allow us to take advantage of more powerful technology that doesn't require complicated coding and heavy processing power. This of course helps us stay on budget and the net.
