* Notes on this dictionary

All terms and definitions are taken from past and present  publications, natives, and history text. It is intended to be informative only, and as such, is not intended to express an opinion as to any deeper "hidden" meanings to the society that still reside here.

  Some of the terms here  could be profoundly offensive to some. We do not apologize for history, nor do we advocate the use of such terms in your everyday speech.

Also some terms are no longer used in "polite society," but the terms are still taught and used among the "hidden clicks", and some subcultures, about the city.

We do however, wish this to be a valuable source for information without offending any among you. A Word of caution: Please don't use any terms, when you don't fully understand their meaning, in public.

This source is meant to become the most comprehensive on-line dictionary we can generate. Therefore it contains terms used in both the, Mobile, Ala. Carnival, as well as the New Orleans, La. celebration. Also, the terms used commonly in New Orleans everyday life are listed as well. While we are adding to this dictionary every single day, We're a long  way from our goal. Please, if you know of a term which we have not entered into the database, drop us an email.
