Mardi Gras Digest is currently the only full time, professional, news agency that specifically & exclusively covers Carnival, in the United States Gulf Coast region. Our coverage area includes the five gulf coast states of  Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Three other states, Missouri , Georgia and Arkansas are also covered, albeit much less extensively. These states and the large and small cities & locations, have established themselves along with others that have totally embraced the carnival culture and traditions and recognize the historic value of the celebration.

However, for those who have with a passion, totally and completely embraced the holiday, it is not enough to merely celebrate, just simply because our families did before us. We seek more than to understand and chronicle how we celebrate the holiday, but also strive to know why we celebrate, to reconnect the dots to the past of which we know next to nothing about. Therefore, we take possession of the baton of wisdom, knowledge, and vision and with it bestowed, take up the challenge of our new mission!

The Mission of Mardi Gras Digest is to:

(a) Enable the Carnival community to function as effectively as possible, by creating  a communications medium.

(b) Create and maintain an accurate and extensive reference resource on the entire culture and inclusive of all its elements, without regard to the club's sexual orientation or tendencies, race, place of residence or location, affiliations, or its member admission practices.

(c) Seek out and document all the industry’s elements, their histories, and their traditions. To look upon these aspects with a healthy respect for their existence, and a pledge of simple intent to understand, study, and chronicle, in their natural state, with no intent to change or alter that state.

(d) Actively Aide any element in need, where possible, and to provide proper guidance, but only when asked, in the respective New Orleans style traditions and historic accurate elements for those elements where needed and asked.

(e) Establish, enable and maintain, a robust dialog between all elements of the Carnival culture. Hopefully this dialog will in itself provoke rational thought, promoting innovation where needed, welcomed and accepted, create ideas, provide more information for a rich environment in which the industry can thrive.

(f)  Actively engage in the research necessary to become one of the main authorities on the Carnival culture while building industry specific knowledge necessary to publicly comment on the subject accurately and with utmost intelligence.

Mardi Gras Digest has established an industry journal, a magazine, as well as a website, an internet radio station and will soon add video presence, that will serve as the Industry’s active communications medium. Furthermore, the Digest, utilizing this medium will seek to establish and maintain a robust dialog, amongst all functioning elements of the industry, including, but not limited to manufacturing, & retail. However, the Digest will seek to publish vital statistics concerning the clubs, groups, and even fringe elements, of the Mardi Gras holiday celebrated nationwide.
