In Search of Point-du-Mardi Gras!
July 19,
2009 ..... Our research has always been good, we even pride ourselves on it,
but we occasionally miss things some times too. So when we get new information,
we do what we should, to follow up and act on it! Many websites, students
and people depend on us to get it right!
Mardi
Gras Point is much too important, so when someone called and said we had it wrong,
we had to take the time to
investigate and what we found surprised both us and our source!
Mardi Gras Radio Begins
Webcasting!
Hammond, Louisiana .........
Mardi Gras Radio, threw the switch on Monday, August 31, and began webcasting
taped LIVE programming to the Gulf Coast and across the open Internet for the Mardi Gras enthusiast
that wanted live shows with a LIVE D.J.
Even though the station is Live
it is using
Flash technology to stay on the Air. Some computers are not
equipped to handle flash, which is why the station is only using the technique
to transmit sounds over the lower net.
The real test will come on
October 5th, 2009, when the station links it's signal with 365LIVE and begins
to utilize more than flash to stream across the globe.
The station which is a for profit
entity will carry interviews, various tunes and songs with a line to Mardi
Gras, plus cover most events across the greater gulf coast.

A Glimpse of the Life of Henry Alvin Sharpe:
Inventor of the Carnival Doubloon / Poet
/ Patriot
Henry Alvin Sharp, was a New Orleans merchant
marine ship's captain, and was extremely skilled at fashioning designs, from
an art form called intaglio, an
engraving or incised figure in stone or other hard material in which the
design is depressed below the material so that the impression yields an image
in relief.
In 1959, Sharp informed the Rex organization that he had designed some
attractive coins known as doubloons that could be minted in aluminum and
produced inexpensively in quantities and were safe. Sharp sold Rex on the idea
and 83,000 were ordered.
Very little is known outside of the small circle of the Rex Organization,
and engravers about town. We were granted an interview by one of his partners
in the art. Digest, gives you a brief but telling glimpse into the life of a
Carnival Legend.

In these tough times, Websites can pull the
load!
August 4, 2009 Organizations that have chosen
to stick with tradition and the status Quo have chosen to take the long hard
road instead of allowing themselves an easy smooth surface to at least try some
new things that can help them in the long run.
There are a fistful of dollars that are
escaping any krewe with no website! How? Ads! Lost Opportunities! We explain why these guys need to
get out here and

Membership Tactics: The Need to Keep
your Club Active Year around.
July 30, 2009 ......Ponchatoula, LA
In the business of Carnival you have an absolute need to hold on to your
membership to keep your club viable. Yet, quite a few clubs go inactive during
the time of greatest need .
We point out the obvious reasons you should
change that and the not so obvious reasons you should as well.
Are You Waiting for Parade Sponsors?
August 12, 2009 ..........Hammond, LA. While
it may be a good idea, it is something that in all probability has very little
chance of coming into wide acceptance. Here's why!
Club Revenue: Cafe Press a
good fit for krewe Merchandise!
July 30, 2009 ......Ponchatoula, LA Even
though your
membership is your primary source of club revenue, you should have at the very
least 6 additional streams. However, very few clubs go the route of finding more
funds for the greatest of needs, parade floats, and balls.
We point out the obvious reasons you should
change that and the not so obvious reasons you should as well.
